An embroidered cap can lift a plain outfit or look like a cheap souvenir, and the difference mostly comes down to four things: the embroidery technique, the base fabric, the brim shape, and the colour pairing.

1. Hand embroidery, machine embroidery, or patches
Three different things get sold as embroidered caps. Hand embroidery is stitched in real thread by an artisan, with a slightly raised texture you can feel and small variation from cap to cap. Machine embroidery is stitched by a machine, uniform and identical each time. Patches are pre-made and glued or sewn on, and the glued ones tend to peel. We do hand embroidery.
2. The base fabric
A cap is only as good as what it's stitched on. We make ours on acid wash denim, which has a worn-in feel and holds embroidery well without puckering. In general, avoid polyester blends and nylon, which don't hold thread as well, and mesh trucker backs, which don't pair well with detailed embroidery.
3. Brim shape
The brim shape changes how a cap reads. A curved brim is the classic baseball cap, the most universal and lived-in. A flat brim is sportier, snapback style. A dad cap has a soft, unstructured crown and looks the most minimal. For embroidery, curved-brim and dad caps work best, since they leave a clean front panel for the design.
4. Where the embroidery sits
The centre front is the usual choice, best for monograms and single motifs. Off-centre, slightly left or right, looks intentional and a little unconventional. A small motif on the side panel is discreet. Initials above the back strap are personal. A tiny detail under the brim is almost a secret.
Designs that work well on caps
A single floral, like a sunflower, is the most popular one we make. See our sunflower cap. A small woodland scene, like the mushrooms and grass on our Meadows cap, has a quiet cottagecore feel. A single flower in red, yellow, or blue is minimal and gift-friendly. Custom initials look like a personal mark and make good gifts. A small animal silhouette, like a dinosaur, owl, bee, or panda, is charming at a cap's scale. A symbol like a third eye, evil eye, or lotus looks intentional.
Colour pairings that work
Acid-wash denim with yellow thread has the most impact for florals. Acid-wash denim with cream is vintage and a little unexpected. A black base with white or gold thread looks sharp. A beige base with olive or burgundy is muted and retro.
Sizing
Our caps are free size with an adjustable back strap, which fits most adults. If you have a notably small or large head, send us a message before ordering and we'll flag whether our standard fit will work.
Care
Caps are harder to wash than tees because of the structured shape. Spot clean stains with mild soap and a soft brush. If it needs more, hand wash in cold water without soaking. Never machine wash, which damages the shape. Air dry on a round form like a small bowl so the cap holds its shape. Don't iron directly over the embroidery.
How ours are made
Every cap is stitched by hand by women artisans in our Bulandshahr studio. Custom caps take about 2 to 3 days, and more detailed designs take 5 to 10 days. Each is made to order in small batches, so the design you see is the design you get, with slight natural variation from one cap to the next.
