How the letters are made

The body of each letter is worked in French knots, hundreds of them packed side by side, which is what gives the name its raised bobbled texture. That texture is the whole point. A flat satin stitch name would take a fraction of the time and look like every machine embroidered hoodie on the market.

The daisies sit on top of the knots rather than beside them, each one a ring of small petals around a knotted centre, with leaves in two greens threaded between the letters. Because the flowers are placed by eye, no two names come out with the same arrangement, and a short name carries a denser scatter than a long one.

Is the name embroidered or printed?
Hand embroidered in real thread. The letters are built from French knots so they stand well clear of the fleece and you can feel every one. Nothing here is printed, heat pressed or machine run.

How heavy is 400 GSM?
Heavy. It is a proper winter weight with a brushed fleece inside, noticeably more substantial than a standard 300 GSM hoodie and warm enough to wear as an outer layer through a north Indian winter.

How many letters can I have?
Longer names are stitched smaller to fit across the chest. Send us the name and we will tell you how it will sit before we start.

Can I change the thread colours?
Yes. Brown letters with cream daisies is the version shown, but the letters and the flowers can both be changed. Mention it in the order note.
