Sunflower Meadow Hand-Embroidered Cap in Acid-Wash Denim

A meadow stitched by hand across the front of an acid-wash denim cap. Long stems rise from just above the brim, and a row of yellow sunflowers opens along the top of them. One white daisy stands among the yellow, right of centre. No print, no iron-on patch. Real cotton thread, pulled through the denim one stitch at a time.

Look at the stems and you can see two greens working together. A bright kelly green for the front stalks, a soft sage behind them, with small leaves branching off along the way. That layering is what makes it read as a meadow with depth rather than a flat line of flowers. Petals are worked in detached loops, so they sit raised off the fabric and catch the light at the edges. Centres are brown knots, each one tied by hand.

The design does not stop at the front panel. It runs past the seam and wraps onto the sides, which is something a machine hoop cannot do.

The acid wash gives the denim a soft, already-worn charcoal. It takes thread colour well, which is why the yellows read bright on it instead of sinking in.

Every cap is stitched to order in our Bulandshahr studio by women artisans. Because a person makes each one, no two meadows sit exactly alike. A stem leans differently, a bloom sits a little higher. That is the point of it.

Why hand embroidery and not machine

Machine embroidery flattens a flower into a solid block of thread. Hand stitching keeps every petal separate, which is what gives this meadow its texture. It also lets the design wander across a seam and change direction, so the stems can lean the way real ones do.

Fit and care

Free size with an adjustable metal backstrap, so it works for most heads. Curved brim, classic baseball shape, unisex.

Spot clean only. Warm water, mild soap, dab at the mark and let it air dry. A washing machine will warp the brim and fray the stitches.

How is this different from your other sunflower caps?
The others carry a single bloom or a few scattered flowers. This one is a full meadow: tall stems running up from the brim, layered greens, a dense row of blooms across the front and around onto the sides, and one white daisy in among them. It takes considerably longer to stitch.

Can I wash this cap in a washing machine?
No. A machine warps the brim and frays the hand stitches. Spot clean it instead: warm water, a little mild soap, dab at the mark with a cloth and let the cap air dry away from direct sun.

Is the embroidery done by hand or by machine?
By hand. Each cap is stitched by one of our artisans in Bulandshahr using cotton thread. You can see it on the cap itself: the petals sit raised off the denim and no two flowers are identical.

Will the cap fit me?
It is free size with an adjustable metal backstrap at the back, which covers most adult head sizes. The shape is a classic curved-brim baseball cap and it is unisex.
