Taanka is a kantha work t-shirt where the stitches are the design: hand running stitch across the chest of a white 220 GSM cotton oversized tee, a brown herringbone band and a blanket-stitched collar. Taanka is Hindi for a single stitch. Made by our women artisans in Bulandshahr, India, the studio behind 5,000+ Vee Threads orders.

What is kantha work? A running-stitch embroidery tradition from Bengal, first used to layer old saris into quilts. Its signature is the plain dashed line.

Size and care: Order your usual size for an oversized fit, or one smaller for a regular fit. Wash cold, dry flat, and keep the iron off the embroidery.
