Wildflower Garden Hand-Embroidered Cap in Acid-Wash Denim

Six kinds of flower, stitched by hand into one small garden across the front of an acid-wash denim cap. A single large sunflower opens on the right with a brown knotted centre. Beside it, a blue cornflower with a white eye, sprays of small white bell flowers hanging off olive stems, two sprigs of purple lavender, a tall orange spike that shades into yellow, and a yellow bud low near the brim. No print, no iron-on patch. Real cotton thread.

The sunflower is worked in long satin stitch, so the petals lie flat and glossy and catch the light in a band. Everything around it is built from small detached stitches instead: the white bells are single loops, the lavender is a row of tiny knots, the orange spike is stacked chain stitch. Putting a flat, shiny bloom next to all that texture is what gives the design its depth. One technique across the whole thing would have gone dull.

The garden does not sit in a straight line. It arcs from the left seam across the front and past the right seam onto the side panel, and the stems fan out underneath. A machine hoop cannot turn a design around a curved cap panel like that.

The acid wash leaves the denim a soft, already-worn charcoal. Against that grey the blues and the orange stay sharp instead of sinking in, which is why the palette works here and would look muddy on navy.

Every cap is stitched to order in our Bulandshahr studio by women artisans. This one takes longer than our single-flower caps, because six flower types means six thread changes and no repeating.

Fit and care

Free size with an adjustable metal backstrap, so it works for most heads. Curved brim, classic baseball shape, unisex.

Spot clean only. Warm water, mild soap, dab at the mark and let it air dry. A washing machine will warp the brim and fray the stitches. The satin-stitched sunflower is the part that catches on things, so keep it away from velcro and rough bag linings.

How is this different from your sunflower caps?
The sunflower caps repeat one flower. This one is a mixed garden: sunflower, cornflower, lavender, white bells, an orange spike and a yellow bud, in six thread families rather than three. It is the most involved cap we stitch.

Can I wash this cap in a washing machine?
No. A machine warps the brim and frays the hand stitches. Spot clean it instead: warm water, a little mild soap, dab at the mark with a cloth and let the cap air dry away from direct sun.

Is the embroidery done by hand or by machine?
By hand. Each cap is stitched by one of our artisans in Bulandshahr using cotton thread. You can tell by the mix of stitches: satin on the sunflower, detached loops on the bells, knots on the lavender. A machine would render all of them the same way.

Will the cap fit me?
It is free size with an adjustable metal backstrap at the back, which covers most adult head sizes. The shape is a classic curved-brim baseball cap and it is unisex.
