Short answer: A good embroidered hoodie is heavy cotton fleece (around 400 GSM) with the design stitched straight into the fabric, not printed or stuck on as a patch. Turn it inside out before you buy: knots and thread tails mean hand embroidery, a stiff backing sheet and white bobbin thread mean machine.

What to check before you buy (tap each)
Fleece weight (GSM)
Under 300 GSM feels like a sweatshirt with a hood and lets dense stitching pucker. Around 400 GSM holds embroidery flat and stays warm through a North Indian winter. Our hoodies are 400 GSM cotton fleece. Background: what GSM means.
Brushed inside, not polyester
A brushed cotton or cotton-rich fleece breathes. Heavy polyester blends pill faster and can melt under an iron, which matters when you press embroidery from the back.
Stitched in, not a patch
Some "embroidered" hoodies carry an embroidered patch glued or tacked on. Patches lift at the edges with washing. See embroidery patches.
Thread density on fleece
Fleece pile can swallow thin stitches. Good work uses more strands so the design sits on top of the pile rather than sinking into it.
Fit
Oversized hoodies drop the chest design lower than you expect. Check the chest width and length, not just S, M or L. Our oversized fit guide explains how to measure.
Embroidered hoodie price in India
On our own store, a hand embroidered hoodie with a custom name starts at Rs 2,678. Heavier floral designs that cover the shoulders and sleeves are Rs 3,800. How to wash an embroidered hoodie
- Turn it inside out and close the zip if it has one.
- Cold or cool wash, gentle cycle, mild detergent.
- No tumble dryer. Dry flat or folded over a rail so the hood does not stretch.
- Press from the back on a towel, never directly on the stitches.
