How these differ from a normal embroidered cap

Most caps sold as embroidered in India are machine-embroidered: a digitised file, a multi-head machine, identical output every time. Ours are worked by hand by women artisans in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, one cap at a time. That is why the petals sit slightly differently on every unit, and why we cannot make two that match exactly.

Prices here run Rs 892 to Rs 1,660. Machine-embroidered denim caps from mainstream Indian labels typically start around Rs 2,400, so the hand-stitched option is not the expensive one.

Frequently asked questions

Are these hand-embroidered or machine-embroidered?

Hand-embroidered, every one. There is no machine step anywhere in the process. Each cap is stitched by a person in our Bulandshahr studio, which is the reason no two come out identical.

Will the embroidery survive being crushed in a bag?

Yes. The thread is pulled through the fabric and knotted on the reverse rather than sitting on top of it like a patch or a print. It does not peel, crack or lift.

Can you embroider my name or initials on a cap?

Yes. The monogram cap takes any single letter from A to Z. For a full name or a custom motif on any other cap here, message us before ordering and we will tell you whether it translates into hand stitching.
