Short answer. Between 2 and 14 hours at the embroidery frame, per shirt. A single initial takes about two. A custom name on the chest takes three. A monogram wreath takes six. A full back panel with shaded fill takes fourteen or more. Those hours are the largest single line in the price.

“How long does it take?” is really a question about price. So here are the hours, and then what each hour costs.
Hours by design type

| Design | Hours at the frame | Live price |
|---|---|---|
| Single initial | About 2 | ₹1,428 |
| Custom name, chest | About 3 | ₹1,294 to ₹1,500 |
| Small floral motif | About 4 | ₹1,517 |
| Monogram wreath | About 6 | ₹1,517 |
| Animal motif, front | About 8 | ₹1,785 |
| Oversized front panel | About 11 | ₹2,232 to ₹2,677 |
| Full back panel | 14 and up | ₹3,000 to ₹4,464 |

Why the hours do not divide neatly into the price
Look at the four-hour floral and the six-hour wreath. Same price, ₹1,517. Two extra hours, no extra rupees.
That happens because hours are not the only input. The wreath uses two thread shades and simple satin fill. The four-hour floral uses six shades, which means more re-threading, more colour matching, more waste. Time and material trade against each other, and the price lands in the same place.
The rough working figure is ₹100 to ₹130 of skilled artisan time per hour, which is roughly 44 per cent of a mid-range tee. The full rupee-by-rupee breakdown is here.

What makes a design slow
- Long and short stitch. Shaded fills for fur, petals and gradients. The slowest stitch there is, and the one that separates good hand work from adequate hand work.
- Small dense areas. A 1cm solid circle takes disproportionately long because there is nowhere to build rhythm.
- Many thread changes. Every shade is a stop, a tie-off and a restart.
- Dark fabric. Marker lines read poorly on black, so transfer takes longer and mistakes cost more. Our Night Jungle on black takes about an hour longer than the same design on cream.

What makes a design fast
- Line work. Back stitch and stem stitch outlines move quickly. The line-drawn pieces in Botanical AW26 come off the frame in three or four hours.
- Two or three shades. Fewer stops.
- Repeat designs. The tenth time an artisan stitches a motif she is meaningfully faster than the first. This is why a stock design costs less than the identical thing ordered as a custom piece.

Hours are not the same as delivery time
An eight-hour design does not mean your tee ships tomorrow. Orders sit in a three to seven day queue before stitching starts, then there is wash, press, QC and courier. The full timeline runs seven to fourteen days.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to hand embroider a T-shirt?
Two to fourteen hours at the frame. A single initial takes about two hours, a chest name three, a monogram wreath six, and a full back panel fourteen or more.
How much is an hour of hand embroidery worth?
Roughly ₹100 to ₹130 of skilled artisan time in our studio, which works out to about 44 per cent of a mid-range tee's price.
Why do two designs with different hours cost the same?
Because thread shades and material trade against time. A four-hour design in six shades and a six-hour design in two shades can land at the same price.
Does embroidering on black fabric take longer?
Yes, about an hour longer on a large design. Transfer marker reads poorly on dark cotton, so marking takes more care and mistakes are more expensive to fix.
Does 8 hours of stitching mean my order ships in a day?
No. Orders wait in a three to seven day studio queue before stitching starts, then go through wash, press, quality control and courier. Door to door is seven to fourteen days.
