The letters are drawn out first and then filled in by hand, shade on shade of red thread, so the fill carries depth and texture instead of sitting flat the way a print does. Run a hand over it and you feel every letter standing off the fleece. Cream is the reason the red reads so hard: on a dark hoodie the same thread goes quiet.

Block capitals read best in this style because the fill needs room to sit. Longer names are stitched smaller to fit across the chest, so send us the name and we will tell you how it will sit before we start.

How the letters are made

The outline goes down first, then the fill, one small stitch at a time across the whole body of each letter. A large name can take most of a working day. A machine would lay the same shape down in minutes as a flat block of satin, which is exactly why machine-embroidered name hoodies all look alike and this one does not.

Because the fill is placed by eye, the red shifts a little from letter to letter. That variation is the thing to look for. It is what tells you a person made it.

Questions

Is the name embroidered or printed?
Hand embroidered in real thread. Nothing here is printed, heat pressed or machine run, and you can feel the letters standing off the fleece.

How heavy is 400 GSM?
Heavy. Proper winter weight with a brushed fleece inside, noticeably more substantial than a standard 300 GSM hoodie and warm enough to wear as an outer layer through a north Indian winter.

How many letters can I have?
Longer names are stitched smaller so they fit across the chest. Send us the name and we will confirm the sizing before we start.

Can I change the thread colour?
Yes. Red on cream is the version shown, but the letters can be stitched in another colour. Mention it in the order note.
